That is a very good point. A
major part of this process is admitting how you need the help of others. There is
no true growth in isolation. There is not a plot in this tale for lone rangers
and cult figures. In a real sense, we belong to each other. The human heart is
made for community and connection. We are all part of the greater body and we
are all parts of each other.
This is a hard thing to
swallow because we will disagree on much. These are the distractions. Some want
to lead and some want to not follow. Some want to emphasise on this and others
want to emphasise on nothing at all. Some take it all too seriously and the
other part may have no levity at all. This sin may be more prominent or that
act may not be a sin at all, relatively speaking. And so it goes as we divide
and distract and fail to admit the most central thing of all: we just do not
know. We see in shadows and frames and half open doors. None of us hold all the
answers and none of us has yet seen God whole. Why do we struggle with ideas as
if they are settled truth? Why do we fight and divide when we have been told by
source that “eyes have not seen and heart cannot imagine what lies in store…”
We are better off admitting
that we are not in full flow yet. The only thing left to do is love. The only
thing we must agree on is the Lordship of Christ and that redemption it brings.
We are connected back to source and Father by the holy lamb of two thousand
years past. It may all be symbolic or in part. It may all be actual or in part.
Yet, the central point of our faith is a cross and self-sacrifice. We may do
well to learn to give our pre-conditioning and presumptions over to the great
idea of love. It may start with ‘ordinary love’, just being kind and
considerate, listening and not shouting so loud, being open to hear a differing
opinion and “test all things, hold on to that which rings true” and from there
we will grow together into the fullness of the unity in Christ that is our
calling and our final re-connection with God, that is our destiny. All of us.
Together.
